Welcome to KRAKEN 2026

The KRAKEN 2026 conference covers the bachelor and master seminar of the working group Archaeoinformatics – Data Science. You as a student will receive one of the topics listed below with the goal to read, interpret and present the paper and its idea to other students in a conference talk and to us and student reviewers in a written paper.

Topics

Bachelor Seminar:

  • Heterogenous Information Networks
  • Pattern Mining
  • Similarity Search

Master Seminar:

  • Heterogenous Information Networks
  • Pattern Mining
  • Efficient Similarity Search
  • Index Structures
  • Spatial Knowlegde Graphs

Call for Papers

We invite papers discussing the topic of their anchor paper and compare the ideas and results to those of the paper pool. For bachelor students, each supervisor will provide one additional paper to which you have to find a second paper as you paper pool. For master students, you will only be provided with the anchor paper and you have to find two more related papers. Paper pool papers can provide a different view on the topic, a different approach to the problem or a different application of the method. The goal is to find a common ground between the papers and to discuss the differences and similarities.

Submission Guidelines

Submitted papers must be maximum 6 pages long (including all figures, tables, and references). Submissions should be formatted using the Overleaf template. All abstracts and papers must be submitted using the Microsoft CMT portal:

The Microsoft CMT service is used for managing the peer-reviewing process for this conference. This service is provided for free by Microsoft and they bore all expenses, including costs for Azure cloud services as well as for software development and support.
